He has also spent more than a decade advising corporate clients in North America, Europe and Asia as part of a global management consulting firm active in over fifty countries. He also served as a Foreign Service Officer, at the Canadian Mission to the European Union in Brussels and in the economics branch of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa. He was also executive assistant to Yukon Premier Pat Duncan in 2000-01.

He took medical leave in 2002-3 for cancer treatment of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. In his spare time, he enjoys ski trekking, hiking, mountain biking and canoeing in the Yukon as well as reading history and economics. He speaks English and French.
